Slow-cooked Short Ribs

  • 4 pounds beef short ribs (taste better bone in)
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 1/2 cups beef broth
  • 3/4 cup red wine vinegar
  • 3/4 packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup chili sauce
  • 1/3 cup ketchup
  • 1/3 cup Worcestershire sauce
  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
  • 2  Tbsp. cornstarch (for thickening)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Start by trimming most of the fat off of the short ribs and season with salt and pepper.  Arrange short ribs in the slow cooker and add all listed ingredients.  If you want more of a BBQ flavor, add any BBQ sauce of your choice and add to taste.  (I added about 3/4 of a cup in mine).  Set slow cooker on a low setting for about 8 to 9 hours.  Serve and enjoy!
